As first wind player in the history of the orchestra, Martin Fröst will fulfill the role of Artist in Residence with the Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam in the upcoming season 2022/23. “I’m hugely looking forward to a season of intense activity with this phenomenal orchestra”, says Fröst, who will be presenting a great variety of concerts. Performances include the opening of the season on September 9, 2022 with a wonderful “Dance Mosaic” conducted by Alain Altinoglu, followed by the world premiere of Anna Clyne’s new Clarinet Concerto in January 2023 (5, 6 & 8) with Jaap van Zweden. Furthermore, Sally Beamish’s enchanting Double Concerto “Distans”, which was written and dedicated to Martin Fröst and violinist Janine Jansen, is on the programme on April 5 & 6, 2023 and will be conducted by Klaus Mäkelä. Several chamber music projects and ancillary activities complete this residency.
