Two premieres: Exit and XODUS

With “Exit” and “XODUS” Martin Fröst presents two new additions to his critically acclaimed multimedia performances, in which he stars as soloist, conductor, actor – this time as a real “master of ceremony”, obsessed with Jesper Waldersten’s poetic texts and playful images. As in his previous projects Dollhouse (2013), Genesis (2015) and Retrotopia (2018), he opens up new perspectives on music and art. He proves that the interplay of different genres can succeed: With texts by Jesper Waldersten intertwined with corresponding live paintings, he creates a concert experience that shows new ways: “At the end, the audience should leave the hall with the feeling that nothing is the same as before,” says Martin Fröst. “I want the audience to think: now we’ve experienced something very strange and we’re going to see the world with new eyes and hear with fresh ears.” Together with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Choir, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Stockholm and the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir Fröst and Waldersten embark on a journey through the soundscapes of Bach and Mozart and explore Hungarian, Romanian and Swedish folklore from Brahms to Bartók to Hillborg. Linus Fellbom completes the setting with his stage direction and lighting.
